Is it bad luck for a black cat to cross your path? That depends on where you are. If a black cat were to befriend you in colonial Massachusetts you might be arrested and tried as a witch. But in Scotland, if a black cat were to walk onto your porch it is believed that it will bring prosperity to your home. While in ancient Egypt, black cats were considered a divine blessing and worshiped as a deity.
