My Betta fish is very aggressive and cannot be kept with other fish. As the ruler of his universe, he's frequently seen flaring his gills at his own reflection. Like a lonely drag queen, he makes quite a spectacle flaunting himself at the plant, the filter, and the decorative stones. One day after moving his tank I noticed he had gone missing. He could not have jumped out because the lid was on. As I looked closer I saw a red fin fluttering under a rock. A flat stone had shifted on top of his long flouncy fins trapping him underneath. Poor little guy. It ain't easy being so pretty.
